New hire RN's, LVN's and PCT's can get hands on training of proper transferring of orthopedic patients with emphasis on Total Hip Replacement precautions and Spinal Surgery precautions by our Physical Therapy Department

New hire RN's, LVN's and PCT's can also watch a comprehensive series of Orthopedic Nursing videos ranging in topics from Orthopedic Nursing Overview to specific topics such as Knee Replacement, Spinal Surgery, Hip Replacement and Flap Surgery.  Other topics covered are Preventing Post-op Complications, Pain Management, Epidural Care, Ambulation, Equipment, Fall Prevention and G.I. Motility.

Lunch and Learns

The Education Department presents monthly education and lunch for continuing education with a wide range of topics such as Insulin Highlights and Insights presented by our Certified Diabetes Nurse Educator.  Other topics have included Pain Management Opioids and Equianalgesia and a follow up with Non-Opioid Analgesia.  The Social Services Department has also presented Dealing with the Challenging Patient and Family and Chemical Dependency.  Physicians have presented topics such as Congestive Heart Failure Pharmacology Management and Prevention of Ventilator Hospital Acquired Pneumonia.  Our CNO has also presented a series of Lunch and Learns on Clinical Research.
